Internal Medicine / Sports Medicine

Dr. Graeme Marquez grew up in Barbados, a small, beautiful island in the Caribbean. He completed medical school at the University of the West Indies (Jamaica), followed by residency training in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals, Cleveland, OH. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at MAHEC (Boone)/UNC Health Appalachian, NC. Dr. Marquez is double board-certified in internal medicine and sports medicine.

Dr. Marquez’s main interests are in non-operative orthopedics. During fellowship, he was a team physician for Division 1, Appalachian State University as well as Division 2 Lees-McRae College. He gained experience treating patients and athletes of all ages. He specializes in acute injury diagnoses and treatment, management of overuse and chronic conditions, concussion management, return-to-play planning, and rehabilitation whilst collaborating closely with physical therapy and orthopedic surgery colleagues. He utilizes musculoskeletal ultrasound for both diagnostic and procedural purposes.

Through non-operative interventions utilizing different modalities such as corticosteroid and platelet-rich plasma injections, our goal is to return or maintain patients/athletes to a level of functioning that they desire to achieve their preferred goals. Dr. Marquez is adept at recognizing when conservative management is no longer recommended and will refer patients for orthopedic surgical consultation when necessary.

With American Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Dr. Marquez is also an expert in comprehensive adult care including preventive care, acute and chronic disease diagnosis and management, and coordination of specialized care.

When not taking care of athletes/patients, Dr. Marquez enjoys spending time with his wife and cat. He loves playing and watching sports and indulging in the natural wonders that Oregon has to offer.
